Element has an exciting opportunity for a Sales Director to lead our Life Science Americas Team. This individual will be responsible for leading and coaching assigned staff to drive profitable growth both within current customer base and new prospects. In addition, the Sales Director will increase customer satisfaction, drive productivity and achieve and exceed Element’s booking objectives.
The successful candidate will manage a sales team (which can consist of Business Development Directors, Business Development Managers and Business Development Associates), Inside Sales Manager(s) and Quotation Management Team.
Responsibilities Ensure sales resources are aligned with Element’s Sales ‘go to market’ strategyCreate and review strategic plan and annual plan to ensure adherence to initiatives and objectivesEnsure sales team uses desired behaviors and actions to execute the sales strategyDrive proactive positive enterprise sales approach through the commercial organizationAchieve roll-up sales goals through effective coaching and managing of direct reportsCoach sales resources to determine best course of action to advance sales opportunitiesEngage other Element resources to help team members to advance opportunitiesPartners with Operations when needed to have seamless executionAssess direct reports and provide them with tools necessary to improve the required skills and competenciesEnsure the sales resources are prioritizing highest opportunity accountsDrive quotation management team to adhere to customer requirementDrive new customer acquisition and penetrationRepresent regional sales in periodic business reviews, business reporting and leadership forumsEnsure compliance with all Element policies including but not limited to Terms and Conditions, trade compliance, treatment of others, moral code of conduct, and employee handbookEnsure adherence to all applicable laws pertaining to safety, environment and corporate governance Skills / Qualifications 5-10 years of Sales Management ExperienceExperience managing teams of 50+ generating 200m+A proven track record building and leading elite sales teamsA background in one of our core Life Science disciplines preferred (Pharmaceutical, Environmental, Consumer Products, Medical Device, Food Testing, etc.)Previous experience in the TIC (Testing, Inspection and Certification) a plusRemote management of a national sales teamAbility to read and interpret documents such as customer quotes / contracts, marketing materials, and customer testing specificationsAbility to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizationAbility to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions and proportions and apply concepts of basic algebra and geometryAbility to solve practical customer problems and interpret a variety of instructions, data and details furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formMust have valid Driver’s License, with an acceptable driving record under Element’s policyExperience in interpreting testing procedures and requirementsProficiency in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel)Availability, flexibility, and maturity to represent the company at a broad range of events / projects in the community, with customers and within the companyAbility to remain calm when faced with mounting pressure related to deadlines and multiple prioritiesWell-developed oral and written communication skills to meet a variety of communication needsGood interpersonal skills that foster open upward and downward communication built on mutual respectAbility to interface with clients, win new work and determine their requirements; helps develops proposals including cost estimates, work plan and terms and conditionsAbility to travel up to 75% of the time; some overnight travel may be required
