Sales Engineer

Job Scope:

 

Sales Engineers sell complex scientific and technological products or services to businesses. They must have extensive knowledge of the products’ parts and functions and must understand the scientific processes that make these products work. A person in this role will use their technical skills to explain the benefits of FSG products or services to potential customers and to show how those products or services are better than their competitors’. To do this, the Sales Engineer gives technical presentations during which they explain the technical aspects of the product and how it will solve a specific customer problem.

 

In addition to giving technical presentations, a Sales Engineer will perform other tasks related to sales, such as but not limited to market research. They also may ask for technical requirements from customers and modify and adjust products to meet customers’ specific needs.

 

Responsibilities:

 

A Sales Engineer will:

 

Report to the Director of Sales Work closely with Business Development Managers to support quoting and closing business. Prepare and deliver technical presentations explaining products or services to existing and prospective customers. Talk with customers and engineers to assess equipment needs and to determine system requirements. Collaborate with sales teams to understand customer requirements and provide sales support. Secure and renew orders and arrange deliveries. Plan and modify products to meet customer needs. Help clients solve problems with installed equipment. Recommend improved materials or machinery to customers, showing how changes will lower costs or increase production. Help in researching and developing new products. Perform a similar function as Account Management; with more of a technical focus.  Proactively engage with customers. Act as the client's representative and in a firm to ensure that their demands are met with a focus on improving the customer experience. Identify opportunities to increase customer profitability and drive company revenue. Work with all operations to deliver maximum customer retention, revenue, and net profit. Ensure customers are aware of all FSG Product and Services Research and report on competitive market data. Maintain FSG internal CRM, “Engage” with latest opportunities. Meet and exceed FSG developed KPI’s.
