Country Living has championed small businesses for decades, through inspiring editorial content as well as the Country Living Shows, Christmas Fairs and the online Country Living Marketplace. Now, Country Living is introducing a membership programme to bring these small businesses together in one dedicated community, providing opportunities to sell their products, promote their business, learn new skills and establish connections.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Sales Executive, you will be responsible for supporting the Sales Manager to sell B2B Memberships and stand space at live regional events to small businesses. Your role will involve selling event space to existing members, finding new small businesses to join membership and events, securing sales by communicating with these small businesses, upselling new opportunities and carrying out administrative work such as processing contracts and invoices.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out market and competitor research online and at live events to identify new small business sellers. Review applications from small businesses to join membership, Marketplace and events. Under the guidance of the Sales Manager, sell and upsell membership plans and event space, building strong relationships with small businesses over time to drive long-term recurring revenues. Support small businesses to onboard onto the membership programme, Marketplace and events, ensuring a good experience and customer satisfaction. Keep track of how each small business is interacting with the Country Living brand by regularly updating databases. Write, send and process sales invoices and contracts, and support with a range of other administrative tasks related to scaling our small business partnerships. Support with preparing information about the events such as exhibitor lists and floorplans, to be shared clearly with editorial and operational teams. Communicate with small business members, including gathering feedback and providing them with insight. Help when needed to manage and resolve ad-hoc customer and seller queries on the Country Living Marketplace, such as return requests and payment issues. Attend every Country Living event to meet the small businesses, build rapport and support their experience. This role does not involve supporting at the Country Living events operationally. Be an ambassador of Hearst UK and its values. You may be required to undertake such further duties as your skills, qualifications and experience allow and/or as may be assigned to you from time to time.
ABOUT YOU
Keen interest in championing small businesses and independent retailers. A hunger for sales and an ambition to learn and develop in this area. An understanding of B2B sales. Experience with Salesforce is desirable although we are open to speaking to entry-level candidates with the right attitude and passion for the role. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a friendly and approachable nature. This role is all about building relationships, so the right candidate will be a true people person who loves talking to small business owners and making sure they have a great experience with Country Living. Understanding of the Country Living brand and a good knowledge of the consumer goods space including homewares, gifts, fashion, pets, food and drink, with the ability to identify high-quality, on-brand small businesses. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines. Flexibility to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced environment with changing priorities, and the desire to get involved in a wide range of business areas and functions.
