Position Summary:
The UVA Bookstore is looking for a hands-on and organized sales floor manager to supervise all floor activity including assisting customers, monitoring staff, and managing inventory. The sales floor manager is responsible for ensuring that all floor requirements are met.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for all aspects of the sales floor with heavy focus in clothing and other general merchandise.
Daily training and supervision of staff. Create daily lists of tasks and manage accordingly.
Develop a staff that provides exemplary customer service to ensure consistent customer satisfaction and acts responsibly and professionally in accordance with established policies.
Create an environment that supports teamwork and participation.
Recognize levels of stock on sales floor and replenish accordingly. Develop daily transfer requests from the warehouse.
Greet and offer assistance to customers.
Merchandise sales floor to enhance the customer experience and maximize sales.
Respond to customer inquiries on the sales floor and over the telephone in a positive and accurate manner.
Keep stock room clean, safe, and well organized.
Provide detailed information and/or requests to the Clothing Buyer about/for imprinted merchandise for Bookstore.
Weekends required.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
At least five years of retail experience, at least two years of which are in retail management.
Preferred Qualifications:
College degree
Experience in retail management, preferably in a college bookstore.
5 years retail management or supervisory position.
Strong interpersonal, communication, computer, and leadership skills.
Ability to work independently with little supervision.
Ability to multitask.
Compensation:
