Sales Internship

Gallo Family Vineyards (GVI) owns and operates various vineyards in Sonoma, Napa, Solano, Lake County, Monterey, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties. We also maintain long term growing contracts with growers from Sonoma, Mendocino, Napa, Solano, San Francisco Bay, Lodi, Monterey and Washington State. A Taste of What You’ll Do
The GVI Grape Strategy & Sales Internship Program is searching for appropriate candidates to fill 6 month positions (June-December) within our GVI Grape Strategy & Sales Department. GVI Grape Strategy & Sales strives to sell the highest quality wine grapes while matching demand for our wide arrange of winery partners. Interns will support the many different areas of our GVI Grape Strategy & Sales team including GIS/map building and analysis, integrating customer service with our internal and external customers, data collection for our buyers, , crop estimation, pest and disease scouting, and harvest data collection.
The intern’s essential functions are as follows:
Support all GVI Grape Strategy & Sales operations. Create and maintain business partner list with delivery and accounts receivable information Use GPS technology and the Geographical Information System to map vineyard infrastructure, creating sub block maps for contracted grapes. Assist manager with grape sales and strategy discussions with our partners. Assist with harvest activities including collecting weekly maturity sampling data, creating maturity reports for buyers, weight tag collection and entry, obtaining harvest brix information from contracted wineries and general data entry.

Currently enrolled at a college or university and working towards a Bachelor’s degree in the College of Agriculture, College of Sciences or College of Business; OR have a Bachelor’s degree in the College of Agriculture, College of Sciences or College of Business. Required to lift and move up to 40 lbs. Candidate is required to have a valid driver’s license, a safe driving record and reliable vehicle (if applicable) at the time of hire. This position will undergo a motor vehicle check (MVR) to confirm a history of safe and responsible driving. If needed, candidate must obtain the appropriate state driver’s license based on the position’s location within 30 days of hire. Required to drive to and from varying ranch locations up to 30% of the time. Required to be 18 years or older. This may be in addition to other age requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
What Will Set You Apart
Junior or Senior class standing at a college or university and working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Plant Science, Ag Business, Horticulture, Viticulture, or Enology. Skilled at working with individuals from diverse and varied backgrounds. General viticulture knowledge. Grape pest and disease identification. Computer skills: Microsoft Office, Excel, Statistical Analysis (MiniTab, SAS), GPS Mapping and ArcView at a basic level.
