Covia is looking for a dynamic Sales Manager - Coatings who will have a positive impact on the Industrial Sales team remotely from the North-East or Mid-West US area. As a business sales manager, you will, manage the selling activities in a defined geography including customer contact, distributor management, pricing, and logistics for our products. This position is a key customer facing role with an emphasis on driving profitable growth.
The successful candidate will have the following Key Accountabilities:
Represent Covia as the primary sales contact for the north-east / mid-west US and Canada with a focus on driving profitable growth for our coatings business. Mange sales channels and opportunities for your geographic territory (i.e. third-party distributors, sales agents, affiliates, or direct). Monitor sales performance and recommend / implement changes to support and grow the business. Meet with ship-to and bill-to accounts including distributors (in-person, via phone, and virtual meetings) on a regular basis to discuss new and/or existing business. Communicate key company updates including lead times, industry investments, and production capabilities to your designated customer base often. Build a robust contact network at accounts to drive growth by aligning our capabilities with customer needs. This includes collaborating with marketing, technical, and operations contacts internally and externally. Follow up on all customer requests and provide satisfactory responses or solutions. Prospect for new customer opportunities and markets not currently supplied by Covia. Ensure distributors and sales agents are provided with the necessary training, sales tools, and information to grow the business. Contribute to innovation and product development ideas by identifying gaps in the market where Covia could potentially provide a solution. Meet or exceed SMART goals and Key Performance Indicators that will be determined and set through collaboration with executive leadership your direct manager. Travel domestically and to Canada on an as-need basis with an expectation of approximately 50-60% travel.
The successful candidate will have the following Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with a focus in Business, Sales, Engineering, or a related field required. 5+ years of progressive experience in Sales in the coatings or minerals industry required; 7+ years of experience in Sales and Business Development in the coatings or minerals industry preferred. Self-motivated, highly organized, and enjoys a fast-paced environment. Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
