JOB SUMMARY:
The Sales Support Engineer provides essential support to the Adaptec Solutions (outside) Sales Engineers in facilitating Material Handling opportunities. This role requires a solid understanding of traditional material handling products and applications, with a focus on evaluating and enhancing business processes for efficiency and execution. Ideal candidates are team-oriented and proactive.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Support for Outside Sales Team: Partner closely with the Outside Sales Engineers, assisting in their efforts to drive sales and customer satisfaction.
+ Quotation Preparation: Develop detailed quotes for material handling products and services, excluding those managed by the Automation Applications Engineering Team. This includes traditional material handling equipment such as:
+ Racking, mezzanines, and modular offices
+ Cranes and hoists
+ Stretch wrappers
+ Lift tables
+ Vertical Reciprocating Conveyors (VRC)
+ Installation services on proposed equipment, as needed.
+ Crane and hoist inspections, along with any subsequent required repairs.
+ Preventative maintenance services for material handling equipment.
+ Customer Relations: Act as a resource for customers, enhancing the sales team’s outreach and service delivery.
+ Product and Technical Expertise: Build and maintain comprehensive knowledge of Adaptec’s product lines and services to provide robust support and guidance.
+ Solution Development: Leverage vendor products to create customized, integrated solutions tailored to customer needs.
+ Technical Support: Serve as the first point of contact for inquiries related to quotes, technical specifications, and product-related questions for both the sales team and customers.
+ Management Collaboration: Regularly update the management team on leads and customer needs to ensure alignment with sales goals and objectives.
+ Continuous Learning: Stay current with industry trends, product developments, and technical advancements through self-study and educational programs.
+ Reporting and Data Management: Complete accurate forecasts, gather data, and compile reports as required by management.
+ Field Support:On a limited basis, the Inside Sales Engineer may be required to provide on-site engineering support to assist in the creation, review, and finalization of approval quality drawings for customer projects. This support includes:
+ Conducting occasional visits to customer sites to gather precise measurements, verify project requirements, and ensure alignment with approval drawings.
+ Working directly with clients during site visits to address questions, verify specifications, and confirm design elements to facilitate the approval process.
+ Generating or confirming accurate field measurements as needed to ensure that approval drawings align with real-world specifications and any unique site conditions.
+ Document findings and any design changes and updating drawings as necessary.
+ Ensure that all field data gathered aligns with company standards and meets customer expectations before final approval.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
+ Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline strongly preferred.
+ 2–5 years of relevant experience.
+ Required proficiency in 2D AutoCAD for model and drawing creation.
+ Preferred experience with Autodesk Inventor and SolidWorks.
+ Competence in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems.
+ Experience with Salesforce CRM is an advantage but not essential, as training is available.

+ Skilled multitasker, capable of handling multiple sales and customer relationships simultaneously.

+ Quote-to-order conversion rate.
+ Profit margins on successful orders.
+ Timeliness and accuracy in quote execution.
+ Positive feedback from internal and external stakeholders.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $60,000 - $75,000. The salary range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Adaptec Solutions considers factors including, but not limited to experience and geographic location.
