Job Title: Sales Tax Specialist

Responsibilities

• Prepare sales reports to accurately report sales, use, and any other local taxes for business clients.

• Interpret and research sales data to be input into sales reports.

• File taxes for multiple jurisdictions, states, and localities by means of online filing and mailing paper returns.

• Make sales tax payments timely.

• Prepare monthly purchase reports to calculate use tax on qualifying purchases.

• Work in programs such as OneSource, Rightview Web, ANTS, Smartsheets, Avalara TTR, and Microsoft.

• Communicate effectively with peers, other departments and leadership on status of clients, issues, and notices.

• Respond to client emails, calls, and tax notices.

• Do independent sales and use tax research.

• Communicate with filing jurisdictions to clarify rates, issues, penalties, and due dates.

• Process 200-300 filings a month, spread out through 20-30 clients.

Additional Skills & QualificationsAssociate’s or bachelor’s degree, accounting preferred.2+ years of sales/use tax compliance experience, preferably in a high volume environment.Previous experience with multi-state tax work.Strong logical, analytical, and problem-solving/reconciliation skills.Ability to prioritize when working on multiple complex projects.

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $35.00
