Collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team of Salesforce certified professionals, this role provides a unique opportunity to develop broad skills across multiple areas of Salesforce and university IT systems. Tasks will range from operational activities like user training and basic assistance to implementing new features, developing custom code, and drafting SQL queries to manage and analyze data. No prior Salesforce experience is necessary—we’re ready to help you grow into this role—but we value candidates with demonstrated aptitude and a willingness to learn. While professional experience is not required, we appreciate candidates with some background in technology, either in an administrative or developmental capacity, even if demonstrated through personal projects. Ideal candidates are those looking for long-term growth within the university, such as recent UU graduates or current UU employees exploring a career change. As part of your growth trajectory, you’ll be expected to work toward earning your Salesforce CRM Administrator certification. We are seeking someone with strong analytical abilities, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a collaborative mindset. The ideal candidate is eager to integrate into a supportive team environment while building a foundation for a meaningful career at the university. **Responsibilities** We’re looking for individuals with a passion for learning, a strong analytical mindset, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ready to take on a variety of challenges in Salesforce administration and development. As a Salesforce Associate Engineer, you will: * Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of Salesforce certified professionals using tools such as Microsoft Teams, Jira, and Salesforce itself, meeting both virtually and in-person, to foster a cohesive work environment. * Guide university units and users through onboarding and training on Salesforce platforms. Provide basic assistance to support their transition from legacy systems and help them adopt new processes smoothly. * Maintain detailed and organized documentation of user interactions, system configuration changes, and current processes, contributing to the creation of a robust team knowledge base. * Assist in quality assurance processes, including the testing and validation of Salesforce configurations and developments. * Assist in the development, optimization, and maintenance of the Service and Marketing Cloud platforms. These foundational tasks are critical to ensuring system reliability and support broader team objectives, such as enhancing user experiences and streamlining processes across the university. This includes performing fundamental administrative tasks like setting up system configurations, managing user accounts, implementing security and access controls, and organizing data for efficient management. * Play a supportive role in translating business requirements into technical designs by assisting with tasks such as documenting user needs, drafting initial workflows, and proposing basic configuration changes under the guidance of senior team members, helping to develop effective and creative solutions that meet customer and stakeholder needs. * Participate in the planning and analysis of business requirements for system changes and enhancements, gradually taking on more responsibilities as you grow in the role. * Collaborate actively with the broader CRM team to strategize solutions to emerging needs, onboarding new departments and users, and providing support to end users. * Prepare to sit for and pass the Salesforce CRM Administrator certification as part of your professional development in the role. * Collaborate with other university IT teams and departments to gain exposure to non-Salesforce systems and processes, fostering a broad understanding of how Salesforce integrates into the university’s broader technology ecosystem. This collaboration supports a well-rounded perspective critical for generalist growth. * Engage in continuous learning, building on the foundational skills gained through earlier tasks, with a view to eventually leading individual projects and contributing to strategic team initiatives. This role is designed to help ensure long-term team stability by preparing you to step into more senior roles as opportunities arise, supporting continuity without disruption to the team’s mission. **Required Skills:** * Customer Service Orientation: A mindset focused on understanding and meeting the needs of users and stakeholders, coupled with a proactive approach to getting things done. * Analytical Mindset: Ability to understand and analyze business requirements and willingness to learn how to translate them into technical solutions. * Problem-Solving Aptitude: Eagerness to creatively solve problems and suggest potential improvements proactively. * Communication Skills: Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills with the ability to convey technical information in a clear manner to various stakeholders. * Collaborative Spirit: Ability to work effectively in a team environment, contributing positively to group dynamics and collaborations. * Technical Aptitude: A willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, with some background in programming or scripting languages being a bonus but not a strict requirement. * Organizational Skills: Strong personal organization with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, maintain detailed notes, and prioritize effectively. * Adaptability to Cross-Functional Tasks: Willingness to take on a variety of responsibilities across technical, user-facing, and administrative domains, adapting to the needs of the team and the university. * Time Management: Demonstrated ability to manage one’s own time effectively, identifying and focusing on the most critical tasks first. **Minimum Qualifications** Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) with at least 2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description. **Preferences** * Salesforce Basics: Some experience or familiarity with Salesforce platforms, or a keen interest in developing expertise in this area through on-the-job learning. Candidates will have the opportunity to work toward attaining the Salesforce Administrator Certification as part of their professional development. * Documentation Skills: Proven experience or willingness to learn how to create detailed and organized documentation of processes and interactions. * Project Management: Introductory skills in project management, including the ability to oversee short-term and long-term projects from inception to completion. * Agile Experience: Exposure to Agile or Scrum methodologies, with the willingness to actively participate in agile project settings. * Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred, though demonstrated analytical and organizational abilities are also valued.
