As a Sample Control Technician, you will be responsible for receiving and processing samples, managing laboratory inventory, and ensuring compliance with laboratory protocols. Your role will include assisting Analytical Services Managers, preparing bottle kits, and performing various shipping and receiving duties. You will also manage subcontracted work to outside laboratories and perform routine laboratory duties.
Responsibilities
+ Receive samples, unpack coolers, label containers, and scan shipping documentation.
+ Perform sample login and assist with Sample Group setup, Bottle Orders, and login review.
+ Produce bottle kits, add preservatives to containers, and handle shipping and receiving duties.
+ Organize walk-in refrigerators and manage the sample disposal queue.
+ Clean equipment such as glassware, coolers, sinks, tables, and samplers using solvents, water, detergents, or acids according to Standard Operating Procedures.
+ Perform sample disposal, waste accumulation, and other related waste disposal duties.
+ Manage subcontracted work to outside laboratories.
+ Take warehouse inventory, assist in receiving, stock and rotate inventory, and refill workspace stock as assigned.
+ Prepare and send out bottle order kits.
+ Pour off bottled water samples received from clients into appropriate bottles for laboratory analysis.
+ Collect and send subcontract bottles to other laboratories for analysis.
+ Cross-train in login and shipping roles as a backup.
+ Triage samples received in the lab, ensuring all sample acceptability criteria are met.
+ Login samples into the LIMS system and label them appropriately.
+ Provide subcontract samples to the shipping department for processing.
Essential Skills
+ Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) knowledge
+ Laboratory Technician experience
+ Sample preparation skills
+ Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
+ Data entry skills
+ Sample control proficiency
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ High School Diploma (minimum)
+ Ability to lift 60 pounds
+ Proficiency in computer programs (Word, Excel)
+ Document control experience
Work Environment
The position is based in a laboratory environment where you will work with a team of 10 or more. The lab focuses on testing bottled water, ensuring a very clean product and environment. The schedule is the 2nd shift, Monday through Friday, from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm. The dress code is business casual with closed-toe shoes required.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00
