Overview:

2020 Companies, in partnership with Samsung Electronics America, is hiring a full-time Product Safety & Claims Manager located in the Ridgefield Park, NJ Samsung offices.

Pay: $30.00 per hour based on experience

Location: On-site in Ridgefield Park, NJ office

The primary objective of Product Safety is to manage Samsung Electronics America (SEA) product safety concerns and to provide Customer Care for Product Liability claims, including risk & claims management, maximizing business competitiveness and profit by establishing goals and measuring & managing performance, analyzing external and internal business, develop action plans to strengthen competitiveness based on assessment of internal competencies and processes, communicating strategic vision globally, executing high priority tasks to support top management.

Job Description:

The goal of the Product Safety & Claims Manager is to manage Product Liability claims by defending the Samsung brand, engaging in activities to prevent product liability, claim management along with KPIs, attending on-site inspection & lab exams, identifying critical PL product risk and issues, providing technical support as needed, coordinating with insurance company and 3rd party law firms and handling safety related concerns

Manage all escalated CE SFM claims involved with litigation and insurance, coordinating with 3rd party law firms, insurance companies, and SEA internal stakeholders. This role requires registering PL claims in the system and following up until case closure with proper resolution 

Diagnosis of product defects, PL symptoms, and the root cause of incidents to defend Samsung in terms of product liability. Able to examine risk factors based on inspecting products, which will lead to PL prevention management  

Attend onsite & lab inspection to identify PL risks and product liability

Contact customers (end customers or partners) for interviews or follow-up claims for customer care. Able to process customer care resolutions (Exchange/Refund)

Able to sense risks preemptively by handling claims, which need to be reported for risk management, and de-escalate the claims for any company risks

Able to attend deposition as needed

Works on issues that impact the success of the business or address future concepts, products, or technologies - Regularly interacts with external/internal stakeholders /or major customers. Interactions may frequently involve special skills such as negotiating with customers or management or attempting to influence juniors regarding significant matters to the organization

Product Liability Risk management, sensing and reporting potential risks to the leadership

Early risk sensing for product liability issues, working cross-functionally with the headquarters teams in Korea and the laboratory, following up close loop process from detecting issues to corrective actions

Claim management, including Insurance/Tender/Subrogation claims, managing LTPs and status, making decisions & escalating issues

Qualifications:

Minimum 6+ related experience and a bachelor’s degree

Technical education or product engineering or troubleshooting experience

Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Strong understanding of Home Appliance and Display products

Ability to identify, troubleshoot, and find resolutions to application-based issues

Excellent collaborator with the ability to effectively communicate across divisions and language barriers

Experience working with product engineers and offshore resources in different time zones a plus

Experience working with and influencing cross-functional teams

An ability to perform evening conference calls with headquarters in Korea - An ability to travel within the US & overseas for business purposes as needed

Experience working in a complex, deep organization, corporate, and department

Claims Adjusting/management experience preferable

Necessary Skills and Attributes:     

Product Technical/engineering education or experience

Team oriented, but also able to work independently and manage multiple tasks

Self-directed and results-oriented with excellent communication skills
