The Role
PACCAR is seeking a Storage Area Network (SAN) Administrator to deploy and support the firm's complex storage infrastructure. The storage administrator will be dedicated to providing reliable and flexible data storage services to the entire firm for many business-critical applications. The Storage Administrator function ensures the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of SAN and NAS arrays, SAN switches, FICON Directors, FCIP switches, data protection devices and various replication technologies.
This position is located in Renton, WA.
Job Functions/Responsibilities
Supports release and life cycle process SAN fabric and storage array installs, upgrades, and decommissions. Supports the overall SAN Fabrics and storage array infrastructure support at the enterprise level. Contributes to global operational readiness of platforms with dedicated/shared teams and consults on resource and skills required, process documentation creation, updates to guidelines, policies, change, and audit procedures. Participates in troubleshooting efforts for storage issues and leads in major incidents, root cause analysis, and performance analysis and tuning. ITIL-compliant champion for incident, request, change, and with particular focus on problem management Partner with monitoring team to develop new event and performance monitors/alerts and analysis as needed for new and/or existing systems. Participate in the modernization and automation of storage infrastructure. Maintain vendor relationships and research and test new/updated technologies. Participates in problem management to proactively review open client and infrastructure problems and known errors to minimize the time spent firefighting and troubleshooting, supporting quicker resolution of incidents and events when they do arise. Act as point of escalation to other teams for storage-specific knowledge and experience. Work with other teams within the organization on hardware specifications, quoting and implementation. Assist and provide technical input to PACCAR on the complex solution design, configuration, integration, and installation of new services. Provide 3rd level support on PACCAR’s storage network infrastructure and its peripheral equipment. Document storage network problems and resolution for future reference and automate to reduce support overhead. Assist in the administration of Windows Server technologies, hypervisors and Microsoft Active Directory. Be part of a 24x7 support team with on-call rotation. Up to 10% travel may be required.
Qualifications
3-5+ years of related professional experience. Platforms experience desired: Dell PowerMAX, Dell PowerStore, Brocade, Unisphere for PowerMAX Solution Enabler, & SRDF. Brings prior experience to organize and define work for complex or ambiguous situations. Able to resolve issues, manage workload, and balance priorities through frequent interruptions while meeting specific, time-sensitive deadlines. Prior experience with public cloud providers (AWS, Azure) and associated storage management, HSM, or tiering (S3, Glacier, Azure Blob) a plus. Knowledge of storage-related connectivity protocols and technologies (iSCSI, NFS, Fiber Channel, SAN, NAS, DAS, block, etc.) as well as major vendors (Dell, EMC, IBM, RedHat, etc.). Ability to complete scripting and automation, deployment of new SAN/Switch infrastructure, and maintain accurate CMDB. Solid experience with Python, Ansible, and Linux/Windows/VMware/Azure HCI. Basic understanding of TCP/IP networks and firewalls.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field required.
Physical Demands
This job requires possible ladder use, working in confined spaces, lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing, pulling as well as bending and stooping.
