Job Description

Designs, plans, and implements storage systems and procedures. Maintains efficient and reliable backup and recovery procedures. Troubleshoots and supports storage systems. Creates and reviews reports on storage usage.

Experience

5 years of experience in a technical support position in a microcomputer environment with a direct support help desk environment5 years of experience in generally accepted networking principles, including network design, data backup, Cisco MDS switches, EMC storage, DNS, and DHCP5 years of experience in system and network administration with the principles, practices, and techniques used in administering complex SAN environments, data protection strategies, multi-site replication, and supporting UNIX-based environment, IBM AIX operating system, Windows Server operating systems, Linux operating systems, VMware storage, and general storage protocols (e.g., Fiber Channel, NFS, CIFS, and iSCSI)

Preferred Qualifications

EMC Storage Administrator (EMCSA)3 years of experience in a healthcare settingExperience in an ITIL services framework

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Information Systems, or related field

Job Responsibilities

Designs and maintains storage area network/network attached storage, including temporary, short-term, and long-term data storage with focus on highly redundant, resilient, and required performance as key requirements.Designs and maintains data protection protocols/processes and works with Windows and Unix teams to ensure storage performance and protection.Maintains system and network security and ensures compliance with security policies and procedures.Evaluates hardware and software, including peripheral, output, and related equipment.Participates in development and implementation of systems- and network-related procedures and standards.Participates in and may lead aspects of major system and network installations and upgrades.Interfaces with vendors to ensure appropriate resolution during systems and network outages or periods of reduced performance.Develops and implements testing strategies and documents results.Performs capacity planning across all storage platforms with a full lifecycle management and performing storage workload modeling and prediction for sizing and troubleshooting.Maintains all storage platforms and interconnects that they are patched, release, and firmware current.Maintains comprehensive storage monitoring and availability practices, remediates any identified issues/reoccurring problems, and implements solutions.Maintains storage synchronization, high availability, and disaster recovery technologies/copies (e.g., cloning, snapshots).Acts as subject matter expert to diagnose and resolve problems in multiple storage environments, coordinating with coworkers and vendors as necessary to facilitate maximum availability of applications and system resiliency.Participates in P1 leadership escalation management when requested.
