Key Functions:

Support manufacturing by operating the sanders to maintain a steady flow of boards through the sanders at full production pace and to customer specifications. Other duties include but are not limited to pre-shift inspection of machinery, quality checks, loading the banding station with stickers, assisting with jam-ups, changing out banding rolls, and keeping the work area clean.Learn panel grades and operation of both sanders within one year's time, to the point of self-operation of either sander, to quality specifications. Work closely with the Sander Operator and In-line Forklift Operator.Operate, service and maintain equipment; including but not limited to performing pre-shift inspections; adjusting feeder, sander and bins based on product specifications; checking and verifying operating air pressure; changing sander belts and replacing chains as necessary; monitoring bag houses; and performing preventative maintenance of equipment Complete paperwork in an accurate and legible manner, including call quality assurance checks, downgrade reports and tally sheets.

This is the first step in line of progression; successful bidders will be required to become a sander operator in the future.

Specific Skills

Knowledge of panels grades to maintain the flow of products through the sanders.Ability to maintain the flow of product through the sanders at full production (capacity) and to grade/customer specifications.Ability to operate, service and maintain equipment; included but not limited to the sander equipment and forklift.Ability to complete paperwork in an accurate and legible manner.Ability to maximize product quality and minimize loss to the company.Ability to work with little direct supervision and be self-motivated.
Ability to work closely with others; be a team player/leader; demonstrate good communication skills, and a positive attitude. Knowledge and willingness to use safety standards of sander and forklift operation, use lockout procedures and wear necessary PPE.Ability to maintain a clean work station, and exhibit good performance, safety and attendance records. Willingness to work any shift, work on short notice, work overtime and weekends and rotate between jobs; as well as perform any job as specified by supervisor. Willingness to learn forklift and sander positions.

Physical Demands

Involves exertion of more than 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or more than 25-50 pounds frequently, and/or more than 20 pounds continuously to move objects. Assistance available for lifting over 100 pounds.Must have good eye-hand coordination.
