Sanitation Manager

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Sanitation Manager oversees the day-to-day operations surrounding the cleaning and sanitizing process for the facility while maintaining compliance with all Company, Regulatory Entities, and Federal and State guidelines, regulations and laws. Provides the overall coordination, observation and evaluation of the Sanitation Team(s) and the daily sanitation process.

RESPONSIBILITIES and TASKS:

Oversees the day-to-day activities to ensure that all sanitation employees follow cleaning procedures for production lines and the facility to meet/exceed Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), USDA and FDA guidelinesPartners with Quality Assurance to ensure a food safe and sanitary environment following all specifications and USDA requirementsAssures strict enforcement of all safety, OSHA, FSIS, USDA and HACCP regulations.Leads or participates in the planning and implementation of process improvements, monitors improvement metrics and solves for reoccurring issuesProvide direction for supervisors to work towards and encourage teamwork to achieve goalsPartners with internal departments/shifts ensuring departmental and location goals are met or exceededMentors, coaches and trains/cross-trains employees to encourage career development; provides consistent feedback concerning strengths and areas in need of improvementAdministers performance improvement plans and disciplinary actions on a fair and consistent basisAssists in performing regular housekeeping, SQF and regulatory auditsPerforms additional duties as assigned

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

This role is a Leader of Leaders role with required competencies: Strategic Agility, Business Acumen, Building Effective Teams, Customer Focus and Command Skills

EDUCATION and CERTIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree/ Technical Certificate preferredHACCP Certification preferred

EXPERIENCE and SKILLS:

Minimum five (5) years’ relevant experience in food manufacturing; experience in poultry industry preferredDemonstrated three (3) years’ leadership experience including knowledge of timekeeping requirements, policy adherence, Top 25 behaviors, conflict resolution and the ability to resolve issues efficiently and effectively; three (3) years’ experience preferredKnowledge of cleaning chemicals and their interactions and potential hazardsWorking knowledge of poultry processing, food safety regulations, OSHA guidelines, GMP and HACCPMust have the ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbal and written, with internal and external customers in a timely and professional manner; ability to communicate in multiple languages (Spanish) preferredStrong attention to detail, organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projectsProficient computer and math skills; knowledge of Adage software preferredSelf-starter who demonstrates strong initiative and sense of urgency, with the ability to work in a fast paced environment.Strong organization skills

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

Follows and ensures other departments and company safety policies and programsWears required protective equipment in all areas where mandatoryUnderstand all cleaning chemicals MSDS sheets including their uses, interactions and hazards

PHYISICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to work non-standard or extended shift including nights, weekends, and/or holidays as neededAbility to stand and/or walk throughout shiftMay be exposed to heat (99°F, 37°C) and cold (45°F, 4°C)Expose to wet and cold environmentWork around live and/or raw animal odors
