Sanitation Supervisor
Position Summary
The Sanitation Supervisor ensures compliance with regulatory, customer, and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) requirements while maintaining a safe, clean, and sanitary production environment. This role oversees sanitation teams, ensures proper cleaning of manufacturing machinery, and drives continuous improvement in sanitation processes.
Key responsibilities include team leadership, compliance monitoring, payroll coordination (ADP), chemical management, and corrective actions based on QA findings.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Compliance
+ Promote a positive and safe work environment
+ Supervise and ensure adherence to GMPs and sanitation procedures
+ Train and develop sanitation team members
+ Manage labor schedules for proper coverage
Sanitation & Food Safety
+ Monitor, audit, and update sanitation procedures for processing and packaging equipment
+ Ensure compliance with food safety, employee safety, and environmental standards
+ Conduct detailed sanitation audits, including dismantling equipment for inspection
+ Oversee and coordinate external sanitation contractors
Quality Control & Reporting
+ Document and report on sanitation inspections, deviations, and corrective actions
+ Maintain and update Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs)
+ Review sanitation records for QA and regulatory compliance
Chemical & Equipment Management
+ Understand and apply proper cleaning chemicals for different equipment
+ Oversee chemical allocation and dispensing
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
+ Work closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and HR teams
+ Implement sanitation process improvements to optimize cleanliness and efficiency
Qualifications
Education & Experience
+ Associate degree in Science, Business, or 3–5 years of sanitation experience in the food industry
Skills & Knowledge
+ Intermediate knowledge of Quality Systems and computer applications
+ Ability to write and train employees on SOPs
+ Strong analytical and communication skills for technical reports and presentations
Preferred
+ Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus
