SAP Basis Administrator with Virsa
The SAP Basis Administrator is responsible for performing daily administration required for the support and operation of the SAP computing environment. Currently, the SAP environment includes SAP BW 3.5, SAP ECC 6.0 with modules FI, CO, MM, PP, SD and Industry Solution AFS, Solution Manager 7.1, and GRC (Virsa) 5.2/5.3 JAVA environment. The SAP BW, ECC, and Solution Manager environments currently run on IBM i V7R1 and the GRC systems on Windows 2003/SQL Server 2005.
Skills with the following Competencies
• Knowledge of IBM i (AS/400) environment with SAP ASCII-based PASE installations; Windows Server OS/SQL Server Database
• Knowledge of AIX platform as well.
Note: We will migrate incrementally from the AS/400 Pase platform to AIX and it will be important to support both.

The SAP Basis Administrator is responsible for performing daily administration required for the support and operation of the SAP computing environment. The SAP Basis Administrator is expected to be proactive in all aspects of the operations of the SAP systems, including monitoring, performance tuning, system management, and technical troubleshooting. The SAP Basis Administrator will work to meet management objectives using a combination of technical knowledge with effective administrative management skills.
• Understands the entire transport process (TMS) and ensures transported success, manages transport sequence and distribution, and attains the proper sign-offs.
• Understands all aspects of the SAP Batch Job environment (SM37), including the management of jobs, their steps, scheduling, dependencies, and being able to coordinate this effort with the IT SAP business teams.
• Knowledge of Support Packages (SPAM/SAINT), kernel update process, and determine the frequency and schedules
• Ability to understand entire scope of complex computer software systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot software and hardware problems encountered by internal and external business units.
• Understands monitoring Basis transactions (CCMS), and can troubleshoot problems when they occur, communicate findings with appropriate personnel, and provide solutions.
• Managing a database refresh schedule and other routine maintenance schedules.
• Work with SAP business owners and IT SAP business teams to identify technical/operational problems, coordinate solutions, manage Change Control requirements and maintenance windows.
• Interface setup/administration (RFC, FTP/SFTP, SAPConnect, output management (SPAD), SAP Content Repository/ArchiveLink)
• Experience Leveraging Charm for transports
