What you'll do:

As a Cloud Engineer in one of our common service infrastructure (CSI) teams, you take responsibility for platform level microservices together with your teammates with cloud-native technologies. Your responsibility includes implementation, deployment and operations of the microservices, as well as the continuous improvements that are derived from operating the service in production. By applying DevOps principles and in close collaboration with our operations and support teams, you ensure automation and optimal operation of the services. Also, reacting to incidents and the associated root cause analysis as well as conducting post-mortem investigations.

 

You will be participating in one of the CSI teams in Shanghai and working with modern cloud-native technologies and all major hyperscalers.

 

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

Automation of development and deployment processes Development of tools and features which support efficient and state of the art operations: self-healing components, scaling components, etc. Management of distributed cloud landscapes (Infrastructure as Code) and contribute to our Site Reliability Engineering processes Identify areas of issue, concern or weakness and work cross functionally to deliver solutions to improve the availability, scalability, performance and efficiency of SAP's Machine Learning Services. Identify problems relating to mission critical services and push requirements to aid in recovery automation and avoid problem reoccurrence

 

What you bring:

We're looking for someone who takes initiative, perseveres, and stay curious. You like to work on meaningful innovative projects and are energized by lifelong learning.

Current full time university student (Bachelor/Master) in computer science or related fields Can work for 5 days a week for at least 6 months duration. Preferred computer skills:  Linux OS, Python, Golang or other scripting languages Good English communication is necessary.

 

Meet your team:

The SAP BTP HANA Database Cloud Infrastructure Team in China is responsible for developing and running the scalable Kubernetes-based infrastructure for Database cloud products and taking charge of the development of many cloud-native services. Additionally taking charge of the development support of SAP HANA Cloud on AliCloud and the collaboration with China Datacom (CDC). We are using state-of-the-art cloud-native technologies like Kubernetes, Docker in DevOps development style to build the enterprise-readiness cloud platform based on the 4+1 hyperscalers (AWS/Azure/GCP/AliCloud/CCloud).

 

Database Cloud Infrastructure is the foundation for SAP database cloud products. Database Cloud Infrastructure supports service and product teams to code, ship and run their services and products in the cloud. It offers a portfolio of services that form a platform for the development, release and operations of cloud-native, compliant and production-ready services and applications. Common Service Infrastructure assumes a Kubernetes-based environment with applications applying a Microservice Architecture shipped with a SAP Micro-Delivery Release Process are the best way forward for applications to become first-class cloud citizens that excel in the Cloud Qualities and contribute to the company's success.
