Key Functions:

Candidates selected for this position will bench and grind band saws, hammer and sharpen carbide saws, troubleshoot and work on filing equipment, and align sawmill equipment.

Key Functions: The Saw Filer will be responsible filing room activities consisting of, but not limited to:

· Participate in safety meetings and activities as determined by team and mill norms and standards

Benching and fitting bandsawsSharpening, tipping and benching round sawsHoning and maintaining knivesPour babbit, maintenance of guides and maintaining guide planeComplete PMs for sawmill and saw shop machinery as requiredParticipate in reliability task teams or activities as requiredHelp coach apprentices/operators to learn saw filing trade and help with PMs

Requirements - External

High School Diploma or equivalentMechanical background and aptitudeExperienced with sawmill mechanics, saw change-outs, Bandmill alignment. Such as crossline between guides and wheels.Process two-years working experience as a band saw filer and/or two-years precision Millwright experience.Knowledge of using precise measuring equipment, i.e., micrometers and dial indicators, etc.Good communication skillsWillingness to work rotating shift schedules, weekends, and holidays as necessaryHave a good work record – safety and dependabilitySelf-motivated and able to follow instructions preciselyBe able to read, write and follow specific printed directionsAbility to troubleshoot lumber for quality and size controlUnderstanding of machine alignment proceduresResume detailing education and work history required for considerationMust be able to pass a computer base skilled test
