Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Saw Operator to join our team on the 1st shift (5am to 3pm, Monday to Thursday) with additional hours on Friday and Saturday as needed. Shift start times are flexible, ranging from 1am to 5am. The Saw Operator will be responsible for cutting various sizes of stock up to 36 inches in diameter, reading blueprints/shop drawings, and operating machinery to precise specifications.
ResponsibilitiesRead tape measures to cut stock at precise lengths (1/16th inch).Operate saws such as band saws or circular saws to cut large materials.Review blueprints/shop drawings to determine the size and shape of final blocks.Figure out the optimal way to cut raw material to maximize yield.Operate machinery according to training documents and understand machine controls.Adjust machining to maintain proper part sizes.Understand and use tools for various operations and work holding methods.Knowledge of cutting speeds, feed rates, and depth of cuts.Properly install saw blades and place guards correctly.Set up saw operations using appropriate tools.Load and unload parts being cut.Adjust machines to produce parts to precise sizes and shapes as required.Essential SkillsExperience operating machinery.Proficiency in using a tape measure.Experience in heavy manufacturing.Basic math skills to calculate the best way to cut raw material.Ability to read and understand blueprints.Additional Skills & QualificationsPrior saw experience is a plus.Basic math skills, especially in adding fractions.No certifications required.Why Work Here?

Work Environment
You will be working in a graphite machine shop, which can be very dirty and potentially dusty. The environment may be cold in winter and hot in summer. All work will be conducted in a team environment with typically 5 employees in the department. Positions are currently open on the 2nd shift, with the opportunity to transfer to the 1st shift in the future. The company provides uniforms and showers for employees who wish to clean up before leaving work.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.00
