Job Title: Saw Operator

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Saw Operator to set up and operate vertical and horizontal band saws to cut steel to customer specifications. The ideal candidate will read blueprints, work orders, and drawings, perform precise measurements, and maintain the saws. This role also includes operating a sit-down forklift for larger cuts and assisting with grinding and labor duties.

ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate vertical and horizontal band saws to cut steel to customer specifications.Read blueprints, work orders, and drawings.Perform measurements using tape measures, calipers, micrometers, squares, and verniers.Utilize a sit-down forklift to load larger parts onto saws for large cuts.Maintain saws, including changing blades and adjusting speed settings.Assist with grinding and labor duties.Essential SkillsExperience with vertical and horizontal band saws.Ability to read and interpret tape measures and blueprints/work orders.Forklift operating experience.Strong mechanical inclination.Attention to detail and basic math skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with manual and automatic saws.Metalworking and mechanical skills.Physical stamina.Knowledge of technical drawings.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

The work environment is very clean, climate-controlled, and well-lit. The candidate will work on the production floor with about 15 other employees. Although they will be the only person in their department, they will be within 10 feet of their colleagues. The position is a first shift role from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with potential overtime until 5:30 pm and occasional mandatory work on Saturdays from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm. Candidates should be open to working up to 55 hours a week during the busy season.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Frankfort, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr.
