ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (F3006 2024-21870):

 

Bowhead seeks an Engineering Technician to join our team in Crane, IN at the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC Crane) in the Small Arms Weapon Systems Division. The Engineering Technician will perform assignments that are not always standard and must be capable of adapting standard procedures and equipment, using applicable precedents, to perform recurring work. The Engineering Technician will receive instructions, equipment and advice from supervisors and work will be reviewed but must be able to conduct the following types of work independently.

Responsibilities

Essential functions will include: 

Constructing components, subunits, or simple models or adapts standard equipment; may troubleshoot and correct malfunctions.Following specific layout and scientific diagrams to construct and package simple devices and subunits of equipment.Conducting various tests or experiments, which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement, selecting, preparing, and operating standard test equipment and recording test data.Extracting and compiling a variety of engineering data from field notes, manuals, lab reports, etc., processing data, identifying errors or inconsistencies, selecting methods of data presentation.Assisting in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials that are pertinent to specific items of equipment or component parts.Developing information concerning previous operational failures and modifications, and using judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek sources to clarify information.Other duties as assigned Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent is required in addition to two to three (2-3) years of experience with the above mentioned duties. NSW Armorer baseline, weapons armory experience, explosive certification required. Weapon Operation Manual writing/tech writing knowledge is prefered not required.Prior experience with NSWC Crane Operations is required.Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contactsStrong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team

 

 

Physical Demands:

Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of timeMust be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to obtain a clearance at the secret level. Candidates who currently hold a secret clearance are encouraged to apply. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
