Are you looking for a fantastic career at Aqua? We have a great opportunity for a SCADA Operator to join us on a part-time, direct basis at our office in Cary, NC.  The SCADA Operator analyzes, dispatches, and communicates issues to on-call personnel, Field Operators, and Utility Technicians; this involves reviewing remote-monitoring alarms received from field instrumentation and transmitting systems.

This person will report to our SCADA Supervisor, and will perform highly responsible work responding to, analyzing, dispatching, and accurately communicating feedback from remote-monitoring alarms for our water well & treatment systems’ field sites, wastewater systems’ field sites, and other sites.  This position requires familiarity with using of computer systems and monitoring/visualization systems; our SCADA process view browser is similar to an internet browser but is utilized instead for industrial process visualization in applications such as water and wastewater systems’ Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Monitor SCADA alarms from a central computer as well as telephone calls.Generate work orders to personnel via computer & telephone.Generate and distribute SCADA reports, when requested.Issue System Pressure Advisories and Lifts in accordance with instruction from Operations Leadership.Perform other assignments / assist with other projects, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Degree RequiredExperience working with computerized technology is preferred (but not required).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Technical aptitude, including competency with Microsoft Windows OS and Office Suite (e.g.: Excel, Word‚ Outlook, and PowerPoint).Exposure to the water utility industry is a plusExcellent written & verbal communication skills; proven ability to communicate effectively (clearly, concisely, and professionally) with internal customers as well as excellent customer service skills are strongly preferred.Ability to work well under pressure.Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.Team Player attitude with the ability to work effectively and multi-task in a team-fostered environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Perform sedentary work - exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects (including the human body); sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
