Position Description
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Monitor SCADA equipment to remotely control the safe operation of multiple CO2 and Crude Oil pipelines, Pump Stations, Valves and the McElmo Dome/Doe Canyon Gathering systems and Processing plants in accordance with DOT, OSHA, and Kinder Morgan regulations, policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Utilize Kinder Morgan’s SCADA systems and processes for monitoring and control of the CO2 and Crude Oil pipeline systems.
• Respond, anticipate and make assessments for any abnormal conditions encountered on the pipelines.
• Respond to emergency situations as outlined in the Emergency Response Plan.
• Communicate critical information to Field Operations personnel and Management in a timely fashion.
• Monitor pipeline pressures, flow rates and other SCADA information for leak detection purposes.
• Coordinate the fulfillment of confirmed nominations with Field Operations personnel, and third party point operators.
• Ensure accuracy of and adherence to pump schedules, batch sizes and confirmed nominations.
• Manage pumping schedules; emphasizing efficiencies such as unit selection and power optimization.
• Monitor incoming/outgoing volumes.
• Monitor product quality.
• Monitor facilities for power and/or communications failure.
• Ensure smooth transition of shift turnovers through verbal and written communication.
• Ensure ongoing improvement through evaluation of current processes.
• Perform other pipeline related duties as assigned.
• Write effectively, and understand verbal and written communications including, but not limited to, email.
• Deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy and professionalism.
• Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills, and listen carefully.
• Maintain a regular, dependable attendance record, and high level of job performance.
• Maintain a high regard for personal safety, the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.
• Work non-traditional hours (12-hour shift rotation is required to maintain a 24x7x365 operation); work schedule change may occur with little advance notice.
• Occasional unscheduled overtime may be required and is anticipated.
• Infrequent travel outside the job location area may be required.
Position Requirements
Compensation: Pay Range: $36.82 - $52.81 per hour This position includes a discretionary annual incentive plan. Job level and pay commensurate with experience and skill set.
Candidate must reside within 30 minutes of the office.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION:
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
EXPERIENCE / SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE:
• Must have basic math skills (ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, use fractions).
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel)
COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft applications (including, but not limited to, Word, Excel and Outlook).
• Ability to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s) and lead personnel, focus attention on details, follow work rules, and adhere to established work schedules.

• Good problem-solving skills, including the ability to utilize multiple resources to arrive at a solution.
• Must successfully complete and maintain all Operator Qualification training and testing relevant to this position.

• Strong analytical skills and logical thought processes, with ability to think quickly and provide support for emergency operations, including staying current on emergency operating procedures and practices.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Office location near Cortez, CO
• Secured, Control Center environment
• 24x7x365 operation; 12-hour shift work; rotating shifts; work schedule change may occur with little advance notice
• Unscheduled overtime is required and anticipated
• Occasional but infrequent travel away from the assigned work location may be required
• Job level commensurate with experience and skill sets
• The successful candidate will be required to clear a DOT drug screen and a complete background check, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employment.
PREFERRED Education, Experience, Certifications, Competencies, Skills, and Abilities: Above the minimum requirements;
not required but advantageous in this position:
• Five years direct work experience in pipeline operations and control is highly desirable
• Working knowledge of CO2 and crude oil terms and principles is a plus
• Proficiency with SCADA programs is preferred
• Mechanical familiarity with and understanding of pumps and compressors is helpful
• Experience working in a 24x7x365 work environment is advantageous
• Associate level degree in any discipline is preferred The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
