Highlights of the job:

We are recruiting for an exceptional Full Time Specialist, SCADA to serve our Blue Sky Wastewater Reclamation Facility in Taylor, TX. The successful individual will maintain the overall performance and efficiency of supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems and data communication networks to ensure secure and reliable operations at our facility.

 

This position is subject to call back, overtime, weekend, and holiday emergency call-outs and on-call duty.

Essential Functions:Provide day-to-day support for operations personnel to ensure that process control systems continue to meet operational requirements efficiently and reliably.Assist in the design, review, and implementation of process control systems.Assist the SCADA Engineer with coordinating contractor installations of process control equipment. Assist the SCADA Engineer with occasional contractor projects including scoping and bidding of work.Identify and purchase equipment needed for ongoing process control system maintenance and improvement projects.Collaborate with the maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to develop and implement company standards and industry best practices in process control systems.Maintains regular and reliable attendance;Move heavy objects (50 pounds or more) long distances (20 feet or more)Climb ladders or steps to inspect or monitor machinery and equipmentWork in small, cramped areas to repair equipment;Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others;Bend or stoop repeatedly or continually over time to repair equipment;Lift arms above shoulder level to work on equipment;Maintenance staff will rotate on-call duties, the intervals will be determined.Other tasks as needed

 

Knowledge of:

Capable of programming and configuring programmable logic controllers (PLC) as well as human machine interfaces (HMI) with minimal assistance.Requires intermediate computer knowledge including an understanding of some of IP networking, SQL databases, Windows Server and Domain management, or use of command line applications such as Telnet.Comfortable working on electrical systems including ability to read electrical schematics and use a multi-meter and process meters.Cybersecurity knowledge including familiarity with firewalls and network segmentation concepts such as a DMZ is a plus.Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and Wonderware HMIs preferred.Some experience providing field support to internal or external customers preferred. Experience with data communication networks such as Ethernet/IP and fiber optics is a plus.General knowledge of electrical systems and electrical components is a plus.Standard process control and operation practices associated with a utility and or industrial industry.Identify problems, research and analyze relevant information, develop and present recommendations, and justification for solution.Read, interpret, retrieve, and produce drawings, blueprints, maps, and specifications. Make sound, independent decisions within established policy and procedural guidelines. Establish, maintain, and foster positive and effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work such as contractors and vendors.

 

Education and Experience:

Associates degree in Engineering, Industrial Automation, Information Technology, or equivalent experience in lieu of degree required.Two (2) years of experience with design, programming, commissioning, and maintenance of process control systems.Valid Texas driver’s license.

 

Environmental Elements:

 

The  Specialist, SCADA will work in and around utility infrastructure and are exposed to loud noise levels, cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, road hazards, vibration, confining workspace, chemicals, mechanical and/or electrical hazards, and hazardous physical substances and fumes. The SCADA Specialist may interact with staff and/or public and private representatives, and contractors in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.
