Ferrous Processing and Trading (FPT) is one of North America’s premier processors, buyers, sellers, and recyclers of scrap metals of all kinds and is a key supplier to the metals industry of North America. FPT is a wholly-owned business of Cleveland-Cliffs and has an immediate opportunity for a Scale Clerk on Day Shift at the Willoughby, OH location. The Scale Clerk is responsible for weighing all inbound and outbound vehicles, inspecting loose loads, directing them to proper unloading areas, and assisting in the details of purchases. In addition to weighing and categorizing materials, the Scale Clerk will routinely operate a forklift, utilize computer systems to process and package materials, and perform other duties to support the operation.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Ensure adherence to safety standards including use of required personal protective equipment (PPE), remove hazards as identified, and maintain cleanliness of the siteAccurately inspect all materials ensuring correct weights, materials description, and grade for all inbound and outbound loadsDetermine the grade of the material, enter it into the inventory system, and direct to proper locationOperate and maintain mobile equipment including but not limited to forklifts and skid steersSet prices and purchasing materials based on market valueManage and control inventory levelsProvide day-to-day training and guidance to develop our team to its fullest potentialAnswer customer questions about materials, pricing, and proceduresMaintain records as requiredResearch, compare, and evaluate local marketsManage, arrange, and schedule pickups and deliveries with carriersAssist with processing as needed, periodically operating and maintaining equipmentMaintain scale house and keep grounds organizedOperate scale computer, applying correct material and inventory codesPrepare proper paperwork for shipmentsCommunicate effectively with transportation, customers, management, and yard employeesInteract with customers or drivers to direct or assist themEnsure quality of inbound and outbound materialsMinimum Qualifications:
