General Summary:

Designs and prepares schedules necessary for the operation of bus service for the DART system, analyzes traffic checks and running times, calculates miles and hours, prepares schedule data and routing sheets, calculates operator paytime under the direction of a Schedule Analyst II or III. Prepare, test and validate the accuracy of bus stop data necessary to support the Trapeze scheduling system and other downstream systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs routine duties related to the scheduling area of assignment.Under general supervision, performs technical analysis, interprets technical data, and initiates project studies.existing schedules and bus stop level data to develop effective schedules. Provide assistance in designing schedules for new services under direct supervision.Develop and maintain scheduling data including stops, run times, patterns, deadheads, route, and pattern traces to be used in developing transit schedules, blocks and driver run assignments.Analyzes traffic check data to evaluate existing service levels and runtimes and makes appropriate adjustments.Calculates miles and hours and applies costing formulas to analyze existing and proposed service costs.Ensures accuracy of scheduling information for all published and communicated schedule information.Ensure the accuracy of bus stop data including spatial location to support programs like Transitmaster, Luminator Infotainment, trip planning, etc.Performs ride checks, point checks and trail checks in the field to confirm traffic checking reports and assure familiarity with the service.Maintains and utilizes data regarding priority transfer connections.Projects appropriate runtimes, schedules coordination for new routes and completes runtime simulations to confirm schedule.Meets regularly with Service Planning staff, Transit Operations staff, and Bus Divisions staff to identify appropriate scheduling adjustments.Prepares schedule reports and documentation as required.Assists in the preparation of all mark-up materials.Supports Schedule Analyst II and III with special projects as required.Investigates and responds to customer complaints, and contacts from field supervisors regarding scheduling issues.Performs other related duties as assigned.


MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Note: An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the below stated minimums excluding High School Diploma, GED, Licenses, or Certifications.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration or a related field.Two (2) years’ experience in using modern transit software such as Giro Hastus or Trapeze FX.Ability to demonstrate a fiduciary obligation to the section, division, department and DART in handling personnel matters and designated information of a confidential nature.Analytical and creative skills to find solutions to complex technical problems.Pass a physical (medical) examination that includes a drug screen in order to operate DART non-revenue vehiclesProficiency using a personal computer (PC), software applications such as Windows, word processing, spreadsheet, database, typical office equipment such as copier, calculator, etc.Ability to be dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers. Gets first-hand customer information and uses it for improvements in products and services. Acts with customers in mind. Establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and gains their trust and respect.Ability to use rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions. Is excellent at honest analysis. Looks beyond the obvious and does not stop at the first answers.Ability to write clearly and in a variety of communication settings.Ability to pick up on technical things quickly. Can learn new skills and knowledge. Is good at learning new industry, company, product, or technical knowledge. Does well in technical courses and seminars.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

Works in an environment where there is minimum exposure to dust, noise, or temperature. May be moderately exposed to unpleasant working conditions to include dust, noise, temperature, weather, petroleum products, and chemicals while visiting DART's operating facilities, assuming incumbent is observing all policies and procedures, safety precautions and regulations, and using all protective clothing and devices provided.
