Find out more at www.TransdevNA.com or watch an overview video at https://youtu.be/ilO5cv0G4mQ  Join our San Diego Team  Meet our Chula Vista/El Cajon Team at Transdev! What we offer:    NEW RATE- $27.59/hourMedical/Dental/Vision health benefits - Kaiser Permanente and SIMNSA*401(K) retirement plans*Paid time off and holidays*Life Insurance paid by employer.    Ride the MTS Bus Routes & Trolley for free, for Employee, spouse and dependent (Youths ages 6-18)    Ability to advance your career.  OVERVIEW The Scheduler is responsible for daily and weekly scheduling of operators to include the extra board to ensure cost efficiencies while meeting service demands and union contractual requirements. ESSENTIAL DUTIESRequired to maintain the VDS Operator schedules, validation to ensure accurate information is maintained; to include the administration of operator time off and bidding process and Operator pay.Works closely with and in support of bus operators, dispatchers, supervisors, and other departments to ensure quality customer service delivery.Coordinates departmental and company goals and objectives with various departments to include Operations, HR, Safety & Training, and Maintenance.Assists with establishing procedures and standards for efficient and effective transit operations, enforces applicable laws, rules and regulations as they pertain to the position.Establish goals and priorities for scheduling locations, Develop methods for completing scheduling projects as well as assess scheduling/routing problems and recommend solutions and long-term improvements. Conduct and supervise Operator bid processMonitor and establish driver staffing targets based on Operator availability and service needs.Responsible for supervision and training of subordinate staff which may include dispatch, supervisors, and Operators.Reviews and approvals of all time off requests related to Operator schedulesTracks Operators unavailable for work both short term and long termManages Operator schedules to efficiently minimize Operator over-time, meal and rest period break compliance and DOT hours of service.Assist with Dispatch and Road Supervision functions as required.Other related duties as assigned.Manage and collaborate in all general driver bids Authority and Supervision of Others: The Scheduler has the authority to write an Observation Notice or Positive Observation notice on a bus operator and to refer a bus operator for progressive discipline. This position provides information and input in work evaluations and staffing and selection decisions; performs on the job (OTJ) training. This position allows for moderate independence and autonomy to make work decisions.  It has no monetary or budgetary authority or responsibilities. Independence of Action: The Scheduler supervisor sets overall program objectives. The Scheduler receives general instructions from the supervisor on the work to be done and the Scheduler makes decisions on the specifics pertaining to the work and keeps the supervisor informed of work progress and any problems that may arise in meeting objectives. The Scheduler recommends major changes for the supervisors’ approval. Unique Working Conditions:Must be able to work days, nights and weekends; work inside/outside in all weather conditions; must be able to respond to an accident/incident scene should the need arise. Additional Job Characteristics: Clothing must be semi-professional in appearance.  Items will be of a sensitive nature and will not be discussed. QUALIFICATIONS:Education, Licensing, and Certifications Required:Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger endorsement and Air brake endorsement requiredEducation, Licensing, and Certifications Preferred:High school diploma or equivalent, such as GED, requiredExperience:Two (2) years’ experience performing dispatch, road supervision other coordination or planning of transit operations. One (1) or more years of relevant operator experience, required.Skills and Knowledge Required: Comprehensive knowledge of public transit managementKnowledge of California labor laws related to hourly employee scheduling and wage order 9Thorough knowledge of the methods of operation of the transit system’s staff and operational departmentsThorough knowledge of basic laws, ordinances and regulations underlying the transit operationAbility to analyze a variety of complex administrative problems to make sound recommendations for their solutions and to prepare working proceduresAbility to work effectively with laborProficiency in Microsoft Office Strong communications and time management skillsPre-Employment Requirements: You must be able to pass a drug test and a criminal background check.Must be able to maintain a DOT medical cardMaintain and meet all Operator credentialsPhysical Requirements: Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to manipulate, handle or feel; reach with hands or arms; and talk or hear. Frequently required to sit. Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel crouch or crawl; and smell. Occasionally required to lift up-to 25 pounds.Must be able to work in extreme heat and cold and in a damp environment with moderate noise.
