Scheduler I
The Scheduler operates under the direction of the Team Lead, creates and coordinates patient schedules that maximizes hospital resources, and streamlines the patient's time on campus. Addresses patient’s/family’s need in person and/or over the telephone, providing exemplary customer service in all contacts. Maintains a professional image and provides appropriate customer service at all times. Functions as a resource person for patients, families and/or significant others. Job Responsibilities: Schedules patients for procedures and services by utilizing the computerized scheduling system in an accurate, efficient manner. Maintains scheduling (clinic-specific) information and computer knowledge to ensure safe and effective scheduling including preparation required for procedures, imaging, and services. Communicates information to patients for procedures, diagnostic imaging, future appointments, outside appointments, or changes in appointments. Evaluates dynamic patient needs and revises the schedule as necessary. Utilizes knowledge of physical and emotional needs/problems of patients/families undergoing care to coordinate a patient schedule. Communicates with other team members, contributes feedback from the patient, family, and significant others in revision of the patient plan of care and assures appropriate documentation. Responds to patient/family questions, concerns, or behaviors in a receptive, supportive manner with appropriate follow-through. Maintains clinical knowledge between one to two clinical areas, clinic-specific needs, protocols, and roadmaps. Assesses, investigates, and reports problems, patient/physician/office/departmental complaints or unusual situations to Director or designee. Prepares and distributes daily schedules for departments for management of clinical personnel/resources. Utilizes knowledge of patient and clinic needs to determine workflow, priority of tasks during peak hours, and delegation of work. Maintains current knowledge of computer program changes, updates, rebuilds, and super-user status. Utilizes multi-disciplinary resources to affect optimal schedules and address patient needs in a timely manner. Facilitates the flow of patients through the clinics and ancillary departments. Develops and maintains extensive contacts with outside providers to insure availability of specialized resources to patients. Works with other departments as a representative of the Scheduling department to accomplish joint projects. Monitors regulatory standards and promotes adherence within department. Assists with performance improvement projects. Attends all appropriate rounds and in-services. Represents the Scheduling department in clinical rounds, care team meetings and committees. Advances personal and peer professionalism by contributing to peer evaluation and peer review. Engages in self-evaluation of practice, identifying areas of strength as well as areas for professional growth. Obtains and provides informal feedback regarding his or her own practice. Participates in formal peer review, provides peers with formal constructive feedback. Maintains regular and predictable attendance. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed in order to meet the goals and objectives of the department and the institution. Minimum Education and/or Training: Associate’s degree in Business or relevant degree required Minimum Experience: 7 years of professional working experience required; healthcare experience highly preferred Clinical background (LPN, Technical training, BSN) is a plus Medical terminology knowledge preferred Compensation In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
