A major portion of the position is scheduling of operative procedures and provides diverse clerical duties. Maintains daily logs, runs requested data reports, and distributes statistical data for the department. Responsible for excellent interpersonal skills and practicing the Core Values of the Mercy Health Care System.

Leadership Skills: Has primary responsibility for scheduling system maintenance & communication. Is the point person for channeling communication to the lead scheduler and or the manager for production & delivery of reports. Possesses discretion with needs to consult higher administration regarding problems and or issuesTechnical/Clinical Skills: Maintains patient confidentiality and proficient on a computer. Maintains an atmosphere of professionalism. Maintains schedule related to scheduling policy. Utilizes troubleshooting skills to resolve patient scheduling issues/conflicts.Teamwork and Communications: Under the direction of the Director/designee, acts as the central figure for routine and emergency case information inter and intra departmentally. Establishes and maintains effective interpersonal relationships. Assists with orientation of new employees and performs other duties deemed necessary by management.Professional/Educational: Attends educational and other required programs, maintains personal grooming and attire consistent with policy and maintains job specific competencies.Performance Improvement: Actively participates in individual and unit/facility performance improvement.

MINIMUM EDUCATION

Required Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Years and Type of Experience: Previous experience in health care setting preferred.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Basic computer skills, typing skills, knowledge of medical terminology. Ability to manage the scheduling of surgical procedures.
