Astria Health is looking for a Scheduling and Authorization Clerk to join our team! This position will be located at our Surgery Center in Grandview.

 

The Scheduling/Authorization Clerk is responsible for providing professional, courteous assistance to patients seeking services within Astria Sunnyside Hospital and Astria Toppenish Hospital. Scheduling/Authorization Clerk will process patient orders as directed by clinic providers, coordinate associated procedure scheduling, and notify referring provider of schedule date and time. Scheduling/Authorization Clerk will verify eligibility, benefits, and authorization requirements for outpatient services. Responsible for contacting insurance company to obtain authorization using correct CPT and DX codes. Enter any authorization numbers and expiration dates to ensure billing accuracy. You will:

 

Complete the referral sheet in the EMR stating date, time, location and any instructions needed for the patient. Communicate instructions and all referral information with the patient. Conduct insurance referral, if needed.Determine if authorization is required for ordered outpatient services.Verifies eligibility, benefits, and medical necessity on outpatient accounts.Enters all authorization numbers and expiration dates on account for billing. Enter pertinent notes pertinent to billing in computer system.Works and assists billing in researching and resolving rejected or denied claims.Notifies ancillary departments of scheduling errors.Participates in continuous quality improvement and customer service. Looks for and suggests ways to better meet customer requests and needs. Notifies appropriate person immediately of any problem jeopardizing positive customer relations.Collaborate effectively across organizational boundaries.Adheres to the core values and standards of the organization.

 

What you bring to the role:

 

High School Graduation or GED. Two or more years of direct work experience in healthcare. Two or more years of administrative support. Oral and written fluency in the English language.
