Summary
The Specialty Scheduling Coordinator is an experienced clerical staff member responsible for coordinating patient appointments involving multiple resources and/or complex record gathering (including records from external entities) to facilitate accurate scheduling. The coordinator is also responsible for follow-up including communicating with all stakeholders (verbally, written and electronically).
The Specialty Scheduling Coordinator is typically assigned to one or two specialty areas, for example: image-guided biopsies, stat radiology exams/procedures, Bone Marrow Transplants (including work-up procedures/preparations, caregiver education classes), infusion/chemotherapy and radiation procedures.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
2 years scheduling experience in a hospital or clinic with complex scheduling algorithms. Oncology-related scheduling experience Experience scheduling with Cerner Experience scheduling surgeries or procedures using Cerner Demonstrated PC Competency of Microsoft Word, outlook windows environment Associate's Degree
Responsibilities:
Schedules and coordinates patient appointments requiring multiple resources and interdependencies. Communicates with all stakeholders including patients in the manner preferred by each (email, report, phone, etc.). Obtains medical records as needed from outside providers. Conducts "Prep" for clinic or department including the compilation of patient data and or documentation. Follows up on errors and offers contributions and suggestions to improve current methods. Contributes innovative ideas to improve work practices and flow. Trains and mentors new peers / team members
Credentials and Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED 2 years of scheduling experience in a hospital or clinic with complex scheduling algorithms.
