POSITION SUMMARY
The Office Coordinator/Surgical Scheduler is responsible for overnight of daily specialty practice office operation, including management of front desk and preparation for office hours. Role includes supervision and direction of chart prep, insurance eligibility checks, precertification of all diagnostic testing and imaging procedures as well as other daily administrative tasks. This role is also responsible for the daily oversight and scheduling of all elective IR and OR procedures, pre-op testing and diagnostic services. Position coordinates a wide variety of patient and information flow between Pre-Admission testing, Radiology, Sentient Neuro Monitoring, Bed Placement and the Operating Room and it responsible for understanding the patient registration process as well as the tools necessary to obtain prior authorization and medical necessity for service rendered. This position communicates and collaborates with IR and OR schedulers as well as patient access team members and other hospital personnel to provide quality customer service.
The Surgical Scheduler enters data for all cases/procedures into the surgical schedule in Microsoft Outlook and provides and supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts, and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
EXPERIENCE: 3 years experience in the medical field as a registrar, receptionist or other related position required. Knowledge of medical terminology and computer experience with scheduling software programs such as ECW and ESM is preferred. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.
