Position Summary: Under general supervision of the department supervisor and/or manager, and following established procedures, performs a variety of tasks associated with the registration, scheduling, and collection of critical billing information for patients utilizing Lahey Clinic. The main focus of this position is data entry, helping with scheduling meetings for the team, maintaining reports related to team productivity.Job Description:
In order to qualify for this role, the Registration & Scheduling Specialist must do all of the following:
Attend and successfully complete the defined training program, earn a passing grade on the post test and achieve “certification,” demonstrate proficiency in all aspects of the job, and spend at least 85% of their time working at Lahey Clinic functioning as the Registration & Scheduling Specialist. Under the general supervision of the Director (or designee) and within established hospital, clinic, and departmental policies and procedures, is certified (tested) as a “Specialist” by Lahey Clinic and performs all of the following activities: Face-to-face patient registration and scheduling of follow-up visits, extensive and correct use of Meditech to ensure that payors are correctly billed for timely and full reimbursement, insurance verification, some degree of financial counseling for non-covered patients, accurate processing of patient co-payments.Essential Responsibilities including but not limited to:
Registers all new and established outpatients upon arrival, verifying, collecting co-payments, and updating required information where needed. Is responsible for collecting and data-entering information with high degree of accuracy. Statuses all appointments at the time of check-in. Confirms that all appointments are statuses by the end of the business day to ensure that all appointments may have appropriate charges posted. Enters all future appointment requests and indicates patient preferences or exclusions for dates and/or times. Schedules multiple appointments in the proper sequence and within appropriate time frames. Regularly rounds with patients in waiting areas and provides patients with status updates as they relate to appointment wait times and changes. Monitors patient waiting areas for cleanliness and appearance. Works collaboratively with the Access Center at LHMC to schedule patients and create access. Meets established department productivity standards. Works on the scheduling work queues and recall lists by calling patients to set up appointments.Required Qualifications:
Education: High School diploma or GED required.
Experience:
0-1 years related work experience required.Experience with computer systems required, including web-based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.Competencies:

Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.Social/Environmental Requirements:
Work requires close attention to task for work to be accurately completed. Intermittent breaks during the work day do not compromise the work.Work routine is fairly consistent, but employee needs to be able to use judgment to respond to events several times a week.No substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditionsHealth Care Status: Position facilitates the process that may impact patient access to services.
