Scheduling Specialist - Lakeshore Surgicare
Schedules surgical general and local procedures utilizing requests from surgeons and/or their office personnel, according to established Center policies. Responsible for assisting with verifying Insurance Benefits for all scheduled cases. Performs a variety of clerical and record-keeping tasks related to the Center’s patient scheduling and pre-operative testing. Provides statistical data to the management team as requested. Provides professional courteous customer service by screening all individuals entering the facility at designated entrances. Ability to respond to situations and reactions associated with a public facing position. **Education:** + High school diploma or equivalent **Certifications/Experience:** + Familiarity with medical terminology preferred or completed medical terminology course preferred. + Current CPR certification **General Responsibilities:** 1. Accurately schedules requested general & local procedures, using specific policies &guidelines 2. Works cooperatively with pre-op staff to accurately prepare charts for patients having surgery the next day. 3. Prepares Center’s surgery schedule for days of operation & its' timely distribution. 4. Makes accurate and timely adjustments to the surgery schedule, including additions cancellations, and other changes. 5. Communicates schedule changes appropriately, in verbal, written, and computer forms of communication, per policy. 6. Assists with the screening of patients and visitors upon arrival to facility 7. Assists with rotational call schedule to handle after-hours calls from patients and physicians 8. Verification of insurance, benefits, pre-certification 9. Assists with cleaning bays, setting bays up for next patient and escorting patients to vehicles upon discharge 10.
