School Base Support Specialist

Location and Hours Based in Greenwood Indiana , this position serves schools throughout Morgan County. The role follows a Monday-Friday schedule with flexible daytime hours aligned with school operations and occasional after-school activities. No weekends required.

Key Responsibilities

Student Support:Provide one-on-one behavioral and emotional support to students.Assist students in developing coping, communication, and problem-solving skills.Collaboration:Partner with families, school staff, and community resources to address barriers to success.Promote positive behavioral strategies and interventions within the classroom.Case Management:Conduct case management services to connect families with appropriate resources.Document services and maintain accurate records in compliance with agency standards.Crisis Intervention:Support crisis management as needed to ensure the safety and well-being of students.

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).Experience working with children or youth in behavioral health, education, or similar settings.Knowledge of trauma-informed practices is a plus.Skills & Attributes:Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with students, families, and staff.Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy.Organizational skills to manage documentation and case management effectively.

Employment Requirements:

Successful completion of background check including criminal record, driving record, abuse/neglect and fingerprint check.

Completion of New Hire Orientation at the beginning of employment.

All training requirements including Relias at the beginning of employment and annually thereafter.

Current driver’s license, acceptable driving record and current auto insurance.

Obtain trainings to assist in professional development meeting DMH Standards. 

Extensive knowledge of the policies, procedures, and regulations of the program to which the employee is assigned.

Valid Driver’s license in state of residency with an acceptable driving record is required.

Must have reliable means of transportation in order to transport clients in personal vehicle.

Proof of valid and current auto insurance is required.

Physical Requirements:

ADA Consideration - Sedentary work:  Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (exists up the 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (exists 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, or pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.  Repetitive movements of hands, fingers, and arms for typing and/or writing during work shift.

Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
