Are you passionate about making a positive impact in your community? We are seeking a dedicated individual to lead school teams in implementing the Unconditional Education Model, fostering a multi-tiered system of academic, behavioral, and social-emotional supports. This role focuses on creating a school culture and climate that is engaging and responsive to the needs of all students, families, and school communities. This role is based at Ánimo Legacy Charter Middle School in based in the West Athens neighborhood of south Los Angeles. Occasional travel is required for our monthly Los Angeles team meetings (usually downtown LA) and annual summer back-to-school activities in Oakland.

 

As a School Culture and Climate Specialist, you'll lead efforts to assess and improve the school's culture and climate through an annual implementation plan. You'll receive specialized training to implement School-Wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (SWPBIS) and foster students' social, emotional, and behavioral health. Your responsibilities include overseeing timely student interventions, facilitating professional development for staff and caregivers, and promoting trauma-informed, healing-centered practices to build inclusive, thriving school communities.

Responsibilities Lead a culture and climate team that administers a variety of measures to assess the school’s overall culture and tiered intervention practice, using input from the community to create an annual implementation plan. Areas of focus may include:
Staff communication, relational trust, and wellnessStudent voiceFamily engagementDeveloping trauma-informed and healing centered practices and policiesLead the implementation of School-Wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (SWPBIS) and Trauma-Informed Practices including:
Facilitating the development of clear expectations and consistent responses to behaviorCreating and identifying systems for tracking and analyzing (discipline) dataLeading data-driven discussions informing school-wide and individual student interventionsEstablishing practices for ensuring school-family partnershipDevelop and/or facilitate a Coordination of Services Team (or equivalent) that supports a data-driven process to:
Coordinate implementation of research-based interventions aligned with a multi-tiered intervention frameworkEnsure students in need of additional support are identified as proactively as possible Assess efficacy of intervention and progressEnsure equity among students receiving interventionRegularly review school-wide data to inform decisions around intervention servicesCoordinate implementation of research-based interventions aligned with a multi-tiered intervention frameworkFacilitate evaluation and program improvement assessment activities onsiteServe as on-site manager for Seneca team members if applicableEngage in Seneca's crisis response model, Equilibrium, or other Seneca approved crisis response model, if trained, to employ crisis communication and de-escalation techniques, ensuring the safety and well-being of others
