Developmental Disabilities Institute, DDI, is one of the largest providers of care to children and adults with Autism, developmental disabilities and other special needs. DDI has been a part of Long Island for over 50 years serving over 1,500 children and adults with Autism, other developmental disabilities and special needs. DDI provides innovative and expansive services to our population through various educational settings, residential services, day habilitation programs and vocational services.
Salary: $17.68 - $21.22/hour
Responsibilities Travel to and from DDI buildings as required to maintain floors and equipment per assigned schedule and relocate equipment when needed. Break down rooms as assigned for scheduled floor care, remove furniture and equipment as necessary and set the room back up after areas are cleaned. Strip & wax classroom, office, and hallway floors according to assigned schedule. Periodically burnish floors as necessary. Shampoo carpets & area rugs in all rooms and areas per assigned schedule. Power wash/steam clean and perform special surface cleaning projects as assigned. Be available for occasional weekend work to complete time sensitive projects. Perform general custodial cleaning duties when required to cover absent staff. Perform other cleaning duties as assigned by supervisor. Qualifications 2 Years performing commercial floor care and heavy cleaning tasks. Operational knowledge of specialized equipment used in maintaining commercial buildings & schools such as stripping and waxing machines, walk behind scrubbers, electric and gas burnishers, power washing machines, steam cleaners, etc. Ability to perform moderately heavy physical tasks such as moving furniture. NYS driver license and approval to drive DDI vehicles. Essential Physical Demands Lift and carry a minimum of 60 lbs. for 25 feet. Twist/kneel/bend/squat/pull. Stand on a minimum 6 ft. ladder.
