Summary
The Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital has received a 3-year grant to deliver an “Explorers of Careers in Healthcare” program to students in grades 3 through 5 in the Boston Public Schools. The goal of the program is to educate young children in Boston about career options in healthcare, potentially leading to careers that improve their wellbeing, as well as the wellbeing of their families and the wider Boston community.
We are seeking a team of healthcare professionals to deliver the “Explorers of Careers in Healthcare” program. This team will represent a range of healthcare professions (e.g., physician, physical therapist, emergency medical technician) and the diversity of students in the Boston Public Schools. The healthcare professionals will implement a 2-hour session at hosting sites in Boston Public Schools and afterschool programs that involves specified small-group, hands-on activities and discussions. There will be approximately 18 sessions over the 3-year period. These sessions will be scheduled for dates and times far in advance. The healthcare professionals will also undergo paid training prior to working at the sessions. The team of healthcare professionals will be trained and led on-site by the Program Coordinator.
