School Health Assistant
Position Summary As part of Med Center Health's School Based Health Clinics and under the clinical oversight of a Registered Nurse, an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, or a Physician, the School Health Assistant assists in providing services that work toward the good health and wellness of students and the improvement of health conditions. Provides direct and thoughtful medical care and services under the clinical oversight of an RN, an APRN, or a Physician and in adherence to Med Center Health School Based Clinic policies and procedures. Facilitates positive student engagement and well-being and promotes health and safety. Actively collaborates with school personnel, family, community, and health care providers. Minimum Qualifications Work Experience Previous clinical experience preferred.
Education Completion of medical assistant training program (or another clinical training program that exceeds the requirements of a medical assistant training program) OR equivalent on the job training working under the direction of a physician is required.
Certifications/Licensure Registered Medical Assistant preferred. Job Specific Performance Standards The duties listed below are a summary of the major essential functions of this position.   Under the clinical oversight of an RN, an APRN or a Physician, actively assists in providing services that work toward the good health and wellness of students and the improvement of health conditions. Working under clinical oversight, provides direct and thoughtful medical care and services in adherence with the Med Center Health School Based Clinic policies and procedures. Monitors health needs and provides appropriate health interventions and services to students. Records and tracks pertinent information and communicates appropriately with Administrator, providers, school personnel, and/or family members. Coordinates and supports the school’s screening programs and school health programs including performing screening and testing. Under the clinical oversight of an RN, an APRN or a Physician, administers medication and provides first aid to students in accordance with established policy and procedure. Maintains health office in clean, orderly and safe condition with special attention to health and medical information, inventory management, and safe disposal procedures.
