The School Counselor/School Mental Health Worker providescounseling to students in need of counseling and/or support with their mentalhealth needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides necessary counseling as required for the studentand/or as outlined in the student’s IHP Evaluates the students’ psychosocial needs, and evaluatesthe progress Collaborates with all disciplines to plan and evaluate goalsfor each student Implements and manages school guidance programs Utilizes a variety of therapy techniques and treatmentplans Works with students in individual, small group and/orclassroom settings Facilitates student learning involving life skills,organization techniques and time management Assists students with creating an academic plan for theireducation Adheres to Amergis and District policies and proceduresMinimum Requirements:
Licensing/Certification according to state/facility/contractrequirement The Counselor may be required to have an Associate’s Degree,Bachelor’s Degree or Masters in Psychology, Addictions, Sociology, Social Work,Counseling, Nursing, or some other Human Development major per state, contract and/or facility guidelines.
