**School of Medicine Financial Aid Program Manager** **Description** **University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus** **Department:** **CU Anschutz Financial Aid and Scholarships Office** **Job Title:** **School of Medicine Financial Aid Program Manager** **Position #:** **00217745- Requisition #:35695** **Job Summary:** **Supervision Received:** **Supervision Exercised:** **Key Responsibilities:** Program Management & Advising - 50% + Responsible for developing and implementing a financial aid program to effectively reach out to medical students regarding student debt management and convey opportunities for one-on-one counseling regarding Financial Aid. + Lead and supervise at least one financial aid advisor, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality output. + Monitor and verify SOM compliance with LCME accreditation standards it relates to Financial Aid Counseling to Medical Students. + In collaboration with the School of Medicine's Office of Student Life, independently build a program to integrate manage Financial Aid advising throughout the four-year MD curriculum. + Develop and implement debt management programs to assist students. The programs will include information and resources on budgeting, responsible borrowing, and the management of debt load. + Provide data and information to SOM medical education leadership on student debt levels as they relate to the LCME accreditation standards. + Provide students with a yearly summary of current and expected debt levels and offer informational resources on options to reduce borrowing. The senior year program will include not only the required exit interview but also information designed to assist in managing their loans after graduation. + Provide proactive informational and advising resources to students. + Explain policies and procedures and disseminate accurate, courteous and timely information in written form and in individual and group advising. This includes the development of robust informational resources (web, printed materials, etc.) as well as presentations to current and prospective students during visits, orientation, and at other times as needed. + Coordinate with the School of Medicine web site manager to ensure materials on both the School of Medicine and Financial Aid websites are in sync and provide accurate and timely information to students. + Advise students on a variety of financing alternatives, including outside scholarships, the Armed Services medical programs, the National Health Service Corp, and various loan repayment programs. + Attend staff meetings for School of Medicine Student Affairs and the Financial Aid & Scholarships Office. Financial Aid Processing- 20% + Calculate financial need by applying federal methodology, state regulations and institutional policies. + Authorize financial aid awards that are most beneficial to the student, ensuring compliance with regulations from various sources of aid (federal, state, and institutional). + Ensure compliance with regulations to avoid potential liability to the University. + Independently review, assess, and audit financial statements, tax returns, entitlement letters, and other required documents. + Completes necessary application corrections and award adjustment based on student requests and circumstances. + Assist with scholarship selection process and review hardship requests. Events and Outreach - 20% + Provide information and make presentations on interview days for prospective students in the MD program. + Works with the Admissions section of the Office of Student Life to provide additional financial aid and debt management information at the "Second Look Day." + Assist with outreach programming to support the School of Medicine's mission and commitment to diversity.
