School Recreational Therapist- ASAP Start
Pay Range: $30 - $35/hr Location: Pasadena Hours: Monday - Friday Description: As a Certified Recreational Therapist working in a school setting, you will play a crucial role in our multidisciplinary team, developing and implementing individualized therapeutic recreation plans to enhance the quality of life for our students. This position involves assessing students' recreational needs and interests, planning and facilitating therapeutic activities, and evaluating the effectiveness of these interventions. You will work closely with students who have a wide range of physical, emotional, and social disabilities, using recreational therapy to help them achieve their individual goals and improve their overall well-being. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: + Assessment: + Administer, score, and interpret various tests to evaluate students' abilities, interests, and needs. + Conduct comprehensive interviews and observations to gather detailed information about each student’s recreational preferences and therapeutic requirements. + Treatment Planning: + Develop effective, individualized treatment plans that incorporate recreational therapy to address students’ specific needs and goals. + Recommend appropriate treatment objectives and strategies to achieve desired therapeutic outcomes. + Therapeutic Interventions: + Implement a variety of recreational therapy activities, such as sports, games, arts and crafts, music, and community outings, to enhance students' physical, emotional, and social functioning. + Adapt and modify activities as needed to ensure they are accessible and beneficial for each student’s unique abilities and limitations. + Provide both individual and group therapy sessions, tailoring activities to meet the needs of each student or group. + Evaluation and Adjustment: + Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of recreational therapy interventions, making adjustments to treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal student outcomes. + Document student progress and any changes in their status, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records. + Collaboration and Communication: + Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including teachers, school counselors, physical therapists, occupational therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure comprehensive student care. + Communicate regularly with team members about student progress, treatment plans, and any changes in student status. + Documentation and Reporting: + Maintain thorough and detailed documentation of student assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and evaluations. + Report any significant changes in student status to the appropriate school professionals in a timely manner. + Additional Duties: + Perform other related duties as assigned to support the overall mission and goals of the school therapy team and organization. Minimum Requirements: + Experience: + At least one year of current experience in Recreation Therapy (preferred). + Certifications: + Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) as required by state/client regulations. + Water Safety and Health Fitness Instructor certifications (preferred). + Professional Compliance: + Adhere to all relevant professional standards of practice. + Complete Amergis' Competency program (if applicable). + Health and Safety: + Current CPR certification (if applicable). + TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray (if applicable). + Current health certificate (as per contract/state regulation). + Qualifications: + Strong communication skills; proficiency in English. + Computer proficiency required. + Meet all federal, state, and local requirements. + Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements. + Must be at least 18 years of age.
