Waste Connections of Washington is looking for a School Waste Reduction Educator to join our team in Vancouver, WA!

Schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM with some evening and weekend work, as needed.

Wage is $23.00/HR - $25.00/HR

As a School Waste Reduction Educator you will assist Clark County Solid Waste and Environmental Education Division in waste reduction education and outreach through the Clark County Green Schools Program. You will also work collaboratively with the Waste Connections Waste Reduction Team at community events tabling and assisting with educational presentations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Familiarity with Clark County and regional recycling and waste reduction practicesBachelor's degree in a field related to area of assignment; and sufficient experience needed for the level of the positionProven ability to maintain effective working relationshipsProven teaching skillsExcellent written and verbal presentation skillsMicrosoft Office experience (including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)Excellent self-motivation skills; strong work ethicStrong active listening and communication skillsMust have a valid driver's license, proof of auto insurance, and a good driving record

RESPONSIBILITIES:

School Waste Reduction through Clark County Green Schools

Assist schools in wasted food reduction and food waste diversionAssist schools in reducing waste and recycling correctlyDeliver recycling bins and materials as requestedCommunicate with school staffMonitor school cafeteria waste reduction efforts

Support EarthGen (formerly Washington Green Schools)

Promote program to school staffSupport program by assisting schools with needed data and giving presentations

Lead Lessons and Activities

Teach various lessons offered by Clark County Green SchoolsConduct Waste Audits

Schedule and Lead Tours at West Van Materials Recovery Facility

Schedule Tidewater tour as requested

Assist and Support Waste Connections Waste Reduction Team

Respond to RecycleHelp email messagesComplete required reportsTable at community and team eventsAssist team members with presentations
