SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY TRANSITION SPECIALIST
Summary This position is part of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency. The incumbent will be responsible for working in close support of the S&T Transition Manager and other members of the RD Portfolio Integration Team to provide continuous support to task management and requirements management activities for each CCMD, Military Service, and other requirements sources. Responsibilities As a SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY TRANSITION SPECIALIST at the GS-0301-12/13 some of your typical work assignments may include: Engages with Military Services and Combatant Commands (CCMDs) regarding relevant DTRA Science and Technology (S&T) capability development efforts and helps prioritize the alignment of DTRA's $1B portfolio of S&T investments against prioritized warfighter requirements. Works with Research and Development Directorate (RD) Departments to establish objectives for Service/CCMD S&T engagement; communicate holistically about DTRA technologies/capabilities to CCMD S&T and WMD offices, as well as communicate RD external efforts to internal DTRA stakeholders; and responsively and comprehensively address customer inquiries. Further develops and maintains an understanding of other DoD and U.S. Agency S&T programs to identify potential collaborative opportunities and to avoid duplication of effort with DTRA's S&T portfolio. Establishes and sustains relationships with CCMD S&T Advisors and staff focused on ensuring mutual understanding of CCMD's unique CWMD requirements and DTRA's CWMD capability development efforts and competencies. Coordinates with DTRA Combatant Command Representatives (CCRs) to ensure RD activities and objectives are understood and represented in Agency-level interactions with supported customers. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications You may qualify at the GS-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service: Broad knowledge of CWMD and emerging threats, to include a broad knowledge of research and development activities related to CWMD. Experience working with Services, CCMDs and/or other Government Agencies to support their CWMD needs. Extensive knowledge of DTRA's organization, missions, and S&T programs. Experience communicating technical, procedural, and programmatic issues to technical and non-technical audiences of varying position levels and background. Experience communicating clearly to inform managers and senior leadership of findings and to create sound recommendations for senior leadership action. You may qualify at the GS-12, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service: Basic knowledge of CWMD and emerging threats, to include a basic knowledge of research and development activities related to CWMD. Experience working with Services, CCMDs and/or other Government Agencies to support their CWMD needs. Basic knowledge of DTRA's organization, missions, and S&T programs. Experience communicating technical, procedural, and programmatic issues to technical and non-technical audiences of varying position levels and background. Experience communicating clearly to inform managers and senior leadership of findings. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
