Science & Engineering Associate - Detector Microfabrication Facility (DMF) Job ID 6263 Location SLAC - Menlo Park, CA Full-Time Temporary **SLAC Job Postings** **Position Overview:** The Detector Microfabrication Facility (DMF) is an ISO-5 cleanroom with a dedicated toolset for the R&D and at-scale production of superconducting devices and sensors with high uniformity, complexity, yield, and reproducibility. In addition to a specialized toolset on 150mm wafers, the DMF also includes necessary capabilities for post-fabrication metrology, room-temperature and cryogenic characterization, and validation of functionality and performance of devices produced at the DMF. The facility is envisioned to support DOE mission science by enabling collaborative research across universities, labs and industry in quantum information science and fundamental physics. DMF is seeking enthusiastic and hands-on candidates who will be supporting DMF cleanroom facilities. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide technical support in all aspects of the DMF operation, with the aim to maintain the facilities to ensure maximizing DMF cleanroom up-time. **Responsibilities:** **The following items reflect the most important tasks associated with the position. The list is not complete and may change as the role evolves with time.** + Conduct daily cleanroom inspections to ensure that the workplace is safe and fit for purpose + Assist in maintenance for facilities such as filter replacement for process cooling water, and vacuum pump oil changes + Interface with service vendors for facilities such as ultra-pure water (UPW) system and acid waste neutralization system + Support SLAC safety teams for documentation related to DMF operation + Maintain and upkeep records relevant to work tasks performed + Contribute to continuous on-the-job-training + Source parts required for lab equipment repairs, installations, etc., following guidance by supervisors + Support DMF cleanroom operation in a safe and pleasant work environment + Assist in tool installation **Please note: This is a 12-month fixed term position with the possibility of extension or conversion to regular continuing position contingent on project funding and business needs.** **Qualifications:** + Associate degree or certificate of completion in a related engineering or related scientific discipline and three years of equivalent work experience or combination of education and relevant experience + General understanding of scientific principles.
