The Science Fellow provides tutoring and supplemental instruction to a wide range of students, including students pursuing careers in science and medical fields, students with disabilities, students whose strongest language is a language other than English, and students returning to college after a gap in formal education. The Science Fellow collaborates with faculty to provide robust co-curricular support, including facilitating recitations, workshops, and small-group learning as needed. This person in this position also partners with faculty and other campus offices on student persistence, retention, and equity initiatives. **Job Duties:** + Provides tutoring, recitations, workshops, and classroom facilitation. + Conducts assessment, research, and reporting. + Contributes to persistence and retention initiatives. + Operations. **Minimum Qualifications:** + Associate or higher degree with coursework in general education/biology/chemistry **AND** 1 academic year of teaching/tutoring experience and/or study skills in relevant areas at the high school level or above **OR** An equivalent combination of education and work experience. **Preferred Qualifications:** + A master’s degree in biology, chemistry, or another relevant field AND prior experience tutoring or teaching biology in a higher education setting. + Ability to support a full range of biology courses, including anatomy and physiology. + Ability to support general chemistry and organic chemistry courses. + Knowledge of universal design and an ability to cultivate an inclusive learning environment for students with disabilities. + Experience tutoring students with diverse linguistic backgrounds and the ability to support a translingual and linguistically inclusive learning environment. + Demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, religious, gender, sexual orientation and ethnic identities of college students, staff, and faculty. + Strong oral and written communication skills. + Prior experience in a college academic support center. + Familiarity with research methodologies in biology and/or chemistry education. + Prior classroom teaching experience. **Other Requirements** All resumes must clearly address the Required Qualifications as stated above.
