NetImpact Strategies is seeking a Scientific Computing Engineer to join our team, in support of a federal client.
Scientific Computing Engineer is highly skilled, with expertise in developing, optimizing, and applying computational methods and algorithms to solve complex scientific and engineering problems. Proficient in utilizing high-performance computing (HPC) systems and parallel computing frameworks, he should accelerate simulations and large-scale data analysis. Experienced in programming languages such as Python, C++, and Fortran, he should also be well-versed in using scientific libraries like NumPy, SciPy, and TensorFlow. Adept at working with interdisciplinary teams, he should design innovative solutions for research, contributing to advancements in fields such as physics, biology, and engineering. With strong problem-solving abilities and a passion for applying computational techniques to real-world scientific challenges, he should drive impactful results in scientific computing.
Responsibilities:
Develop Computational Models: Design and implement mathematical models and simulations to solve complex scientific problems across various domains, including physics, biology, chemistry, and engineering. Optimize Algorithms: Develop, test, and optimize algorithms to ensure efficient and accurate computation, especially for large-scale data and complex simulations. High-Performance Computing (HPC): Leverage HPC systems and parallel computing techniques to accelerate scientific simulations and data processing, optimizing performance for large datasets. Data Analysis and Visualization: Analyze large and complex datasets using advanced statistical methods and computational techniques, and create visualizations to present results effectively. Software Development and Maintenance: Develop and maintain software tools and libraries for scientific computing, ensuring code efficiency, scalability, and accuracy. Collaborate with Cross-Disciplinary Teams: Work with scientists, engineers, and researchers to understand their computational needs, translate those into technical solutions, and integrate them into research workflows. Ensure Reproducibility: Develop and implement best practices to ensure computational results are reproducible and verifiable by other researchers and teams. Manage Scientific Data: Develop methods for managing, processing, and storing large datasets, ensuring data integrity, security, and accessibility for scientific use. Implement Advanced Computational Techniques: Apply cutting-edge computational techniques such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, or data mining to extract insights and improve scientific modeling. Mentor and Train Junior Engineers: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, helping them develop their skills in scientific computing, algorithm development, and problem-solving techniques. Qualifications Master’s or Ph.D. in Computational Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field. Strong foundational knowledge in applied mathematics, numerical methods, and scientific computation. 5+ years of experience in scientific computing, algorithm development, and applying computational techniques to real-world problems in fields such as physics, biology, chemistry, or engineering. Expertise in high-performance computing (HPC) and parallel computing environments. Experience with data analysis, machine learning, and working with large datasets. Proven experience in using scientific libraries and tools (e.g., NumPy, SciPy, TensorFlow, MATLAB, OpenMP, MPI).Preferred Certification:
