The Scientific Leader for Chronic Infection will research, design and execute studies to discover and understand mechanism how chronic infections contribute to diseases associated with uncontrolled immune reactions. The Scientific Leader will research target identification and target validation in the context of vaccines. This role provides the opportunity to work in a matrix structure, establishing and maintaining relationships with internal preclinical, clinical, Project Development teams and external collaborators. The Scientific Leader maintains knowledge of competitive market conditions, patient requirements and technology advances. Key Responsibilities: This role will provide you with the opportunity to spearhead new initiatives and projects in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. The responsibilities include the following: Develop a program to study immune-related diseases caused by chronic infection Establish and maintain collaborations based on scientific excellence and project relevance Present strategies and scientific proposals to Senior management Identifies and interfaces with key scientific external stakeholders or interacts with external partners in the context of outsourcing of activities Establish experimental models in the lab and/or help other teams in the set up and execution of experimental models (in vitro or in vivo) Is accountable to deliver on preclinical objectives, activities, and project milestones Consults and advises line managers/function heads in their area of expertise. Contributes to the writing of regulatory documents, patents and/or peer-reviewed scientific publications Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: Ph.D. or M.S. degree in immunology, virology, medicine or a related field. The required post-graduate work experience is 5+ years for a Ph.D. and 8+ years for an M.S. in the field of chronic infection and/or neurodegenerative or inflammatory disease Three or more years’ experience in research surrounding inflammatory mechanisms at the cellular, molecular and genetic level. Three or more years of experience leading laboratory based projects. Preferred Qualifications: If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: Matrix management experience. A collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills to work with diverse groups within the organization. Detail-oriented with the agility to balance multiple projects.
