AbbVie's Biologics Discovery Sciences group is excited to invite a motivated and skilled Scientist to join our dynamic core team at our North Chicago, IL headquarters. If you possess a keen understanding of biologics purification and are eager to contribute to breakthrough discoveries, we want you on our team!

About the Role:

As a Scientist at AbbVie, you will play a key role in the purification of bispecific antibodies, ensuring they meet the purity and characteristics required to support advancement into in vitro studies (i.e. drug-like property assays, binding, cell-based assays, etc) and in vivo studies (i.e. efficacy, non-GLP NHP PK, DRF, etc). You will design and execute process development strategies to address production liabilities to improve scalability and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead purification processes for bispecific candidates at scales ranging from 1g to 200g.Design and implement strategies to tackle challenges such as solubility, aggregation, recovery, and purity.Conduct rigorous analytical characterization and develop methods to identify process- and product-related impurities.Independently work with chromatography software like Unicorn, Chromeleon, and Empower.Stay informed on the latest scientific literature and apply insights to enhance project outcomes.Document and communicate scientific data accurately and effectively to various audiences.
Qualifications

Qualifications:
Position will be hired based on level of experience –Scientist I or Scientist II

BS or MS in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Biochemical Engineering, or a related field with typically 5-7+ years (BS) or 2-5+ years (MS) of experience.Proficient in bioprocess and chromatography techniques at large scale (1g- 200g scale). Proficient in using AKTA Pure and AKTA Pilot systems.Strong problem-solving experience in addressing purification challenges.Excellent communication skills and experience presenting to diverse groups.Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling weights of more than 20 lbs/9 kgs is required.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
